Ellen Thomas plans to speak about the genesis and essence of Eleanor Holmes Norton's nuclear weapons abolition and energy conversion bill, introduced each session of Congress since 1994; about the UN Nuclear Weapons Ban Treaty negotiations, and the Women's March to Ban the Bomb in New York June 17; the unnecessary and extremely hazardous shipments of highly radioactive liquid waste from Chalk River, Canada to Savannah River Site, South Carolina; the uranium mining moratorium and cleanup bill promoted by the Lakota Sioux at Pine Ridge Reservation that still hasn’t been introduced and needs to be; about our experience using voter initiatives as a tool for education and change. She'll ask people to sign World Beyond War’s pledge to end war and the petition to their legislators to co-sponsor Eleanor Holmes Norton's "Nuclear Weapons Abolition and Economic and Energy Conversion Act" again in 2017.

Ellen would like to go with members of the community to meet with Representatives or their staff, to ask for co-sponsorship of Norton's bill, which supports a nuclear weapons ban treaty and much else.
