In 1988, the vigilers were faced with the decision whether to take to the Supreme Court case 84-3552, which Judge Oberdorfer had dismissed "without prejudice," or combining the unresolved issues in that case with incidents of ongoing police confrontation which occurred since 84-3552 was earlier filed. Choosing the second alternative, the vigilers filed a complaint against various members of the U.S. Department of Interior, Park Police, and Secret Service.
