Howdy,
It is important that the proposed Forest Service amendments to 36 CFR
Parts 251 and 261, which would restrict peaceable assembly on public lands, be
brought to the attention of congressional representatives sitting on oversight
committees. The Washington addresses of appropriate congressional representatives
in your state are:
Bill Bradley
U.S. Senate
Senate Subcommittee on Public Lands and Forests
Washington, D.C. 20510
You might also write their local offices in your state. Encourage everyone
you know to write a letter.
This is not the first time that the bureaucracy has attempted to pass this regulation,
and unless there are significant changes to the structure of government, this will not
be the last time.
Problems of this magnitude require structural solutions.
In addition to working through existing channels, we believe it is important to begin
thinking about more loving structures.
There can be no peace without justice; there can be no justice without a sound value
system. Law may be either reasonable or ruthless, creative or destructive. Whether
we consider ourselves "political" or not, we should begin to recognize that we are
affected by law. With the agreement of enough people, anything could become law.
Proposition One is a grassroots international voter initiative campaign which will
officially be going to D.C. voters on the September 14, 1993 ballot as Initiative 37.
Proposition One would initiate significant structural change. Once enough people
agree, Proposition One could be the law, and humanity will have a legal foundation for
converting destructive industries into meeting human needs. See enclosed flier.
