WAR--

U.S./NATO bombs and cruise missiles are raining down on Belgrade,Pristina, Novi Sad and other cities and towns in Yugoslavia - a country smaller than the state of Ohio.Bombs are falling on Serbs, Albanians, Hungarians, Romanis and Montenegrins alike.

In the name of "peace,"NATO has killed thousands and destroyed hospitals, homes, schools, bridges, power and water treatment plants, factories, and more. In the name of "protecting human rights," the air war has triggered a refugee crisis displacing hundreds of thousands of people.

Now, the threat of a U.S.invasion of Yugoslavia looms. A ground war will mean the deployment of hundreds of thousands of troops. The bombing of oil refineries, chemical plants and NATO's use of radioactive deplered-uranium weapons threatens Europe with an environmental disaster.

Now is the time to act! People in the United States helped to end the Vietnam War thirty years ago. We must go into the streets to stop this new war.

Yugoslavia is the fourth country - along with Iraq, Afghanistan and Sudan - bombed by U.S.military forces in the past eight months. We must act to build a broad and deep movement that says "NO" to this madness.

We are urging you to join us in the newly formed Emergency Mobilization to Stop the War.

You can make a difference. Organize buses. Circulate petitions. Call others. Get involved.

HELP STOP THE WAR

When Dr.Martin Luther King Jr.spoke out against the Vietnam War,he said that"The U.S.bombs falling in the villages of Vietnam are exploding in the inner cities of the U.S." Today, the billions of dollars being spent bombing Yugoslavia are being taken from city and state budgets across the U.S.and from programs like Medicare and Medicaid.

What have the bombings done? Thousands of civilians including many children have been killed, and thousands more have been seriously wounded. Some 500,000 Yugoslav workers have lost their jobs because their factories and shops were destroyed by the bombs. Auto workers at the Yugo plant announced they were going to stay in their factory around-the-clock to save it from being bombed. NATO destroyed it anyway, killing many on the night shift. "Smart" bombs have hit a passenger train, apartment complexes and buses, including a convoy of refugees. Small children have been hit by cluster bombs-made up of thousands of explosive pellets designed to main people and preserve property.

Some politicians want to widen the war with ground troops.Whose sons and daughters will they send to kill and be killed?Remember the Vietnam War. The children of the rich stayed home and ont richer. The children of workers were sent to die.

We are told that the war is to help the people of Kosovo. That's a big lie. Even the Pentagon admits there are many, many more refugees since the bombing began than before, since so many are fleeing the bombing itself. Every time the Pentagon sends troops or bombs Vietnam, Dominican Republic, Panama, Grenada, Lebanon, the Gulf, Somalia, and on and on - they tell the same old lie about helping the people there. How can you help people by bombing and invading their country? In truth, the bankers and Wall Street executives who support this war want just one thing-to carve up Yugoslavia and take over the pieces for profit.

The Pentagon and NATO want to be the cops of the world-and the war against Yugoslavia is a form of international police brutality on a huge scale.Political prisoner Mumia Abu-Jamal, himself tar-geted for death for opposing police brutality, wrote this about the war: "As a deadly rain of high-tech bombs falls on Yugoslavia, a deadening rain of propaganda falls on Americans -media-manipulated lies designed to prime the populace into supporting harsher military measures against a sovereign nation, in the name of protecting human rights....This isn't about 'human rights.' It isn't about 'ethnic minorities.' And it also isn't about 'genocide.' It's about establishing who's 'boss' in the next century."

Since the U.S./NATO bombing began, tens of thousands of people in more than a 100 cities have marched in protest. Join this growing movement.
