He has been on the road since Thanksgiving Day 1996 when he left Washington, D. C. with four other people and a dog on his Quest For Peace. He hopes to be back in Washington, D. C. by Labor Day 1998. He has traveled 6,100 miles, 4,500 miles of that on foot but he does accept rides ides now and then, sometimes joining in with other peace groups he meets on the road.

The coffin shown is not the one he started out with because it was hit by a Lincoln towncar and destroyed. He was in the Marine Corps from 1969-1973.

Rudy is an admirer of Peace Pilgrim who started walking in 1953, when she was in her fifties and walked until she was in her eighties. She walked 35,000 miles on foot and never accepted a ride. After retiring she was killed in an auto accident when a friend was driving her to church.
