MARYLAND
Man Killed in Apparent Robbery Is Identified A man found shot to death late Monday after an apparent robbery and a two-hour standoff at a Seat Pleasant house was identified yesterday by Prince George's County police. Marcus Emillio Simmons, 26, was found dead in a downstairs room inside his home in the 6800 block of James Farmer Way. Residents of the home told police that two intruders entered the home about 9:45 p.m. and forced Simmons, two women and two children into an upstairs bedroom and demanded money. Police said Simmons was taken back downstairs and shot multiple times. One of the women called 911 and said the intruders were in the home. Dozens of officers arrived on the scene within minutes and surrounded the house while speaking with the woman by telephone. Police did not identify the woman or the other people who were inside the home because they are considered witnesses.
Officers eventually entered the home and found Simmons dead. The intruders apparently had fled, police said, and as of last night, they said they had no suspects. Robbery appeared to be a motive, police said, and the case remains under investigation.
