Mr. Alan Moore
1021 N. Main Street
Allentown, PA 18104

Dear Mr. Moore:

This letter is in response to your telephone call of June 3, 1997. Since that time, I have talked to several people about the concerns you raised about the butterfly release and the accompanying festivities at the Trexler Game Preserve.

Let me preface my remarks by saying that you are held in high regard by the people with whom I spoke. Nobody doubts your expertise in lepidoptera and the early leadership you provided in making the local butterfly activities a great success.

In personal conversations with Watson Skinner, Peter Waldron and others, many complimentary comments were made about you. Peter Waldron has a high professional respect for your knowledge of butterflies, but explained that there have been some gaps in communication with you. There is an attempt to make activities at the Game Preserve as inclusive as possible and maintain a strict schedule. It is unfortunate that your schedule did not allow you more active participation. I hope it works out better for you next year.

You should also be commended for the nice "letter to the editor" in the Morning Call. It shows a conciliatory attitude and a dedication to making the people of the Lehigh Valley more aware of the beauty and mystique of butterflies. Good luck in your future endeavors, and keep up the good job you are doing in education.

Sincerely,

Percy Dougherty
County Commissioner
