The Nevada Desert Experience hosted it's 14th annual August Desert Witness in Las Vegas and the Nevada Test Site. Corbin Harney began the day with a sunrise ceremony. At 8 am over 50 anti-nuclear activists from 10 states and Canada gathered for a liturgy. Half of the congregation was on the Bureau of Land Management's claimed side of the fence and the other half of the congregation was on the Department of Energy's claimed side of Western Shoshone land. After the liturgy many chose to walk in the desert. There were 27 arrests. The Nye County Sheriff's Department organized for a speedy release, in the hot desert sun. They provided a port-a-potty in the holding pens, but no water. David Buer, ofm Nevada Desert Experience
