A Brief view on

SLORC'S RELIGIOUS PERSECUTION IN CHINLAND

In the Chin State, Christianity is the dominant religion with some animists. Buddhist amount to less than 0.01 percent. The Slorc, to destroy the peaceful Chin community, is attacking this condition by RELIGIOUS PERSECUTION.   For this project, the Slorc has increased the number of soldiers stationed in the Chin State, from about 100 soldiers in 1988 to some 7000 today.

Christian crosses, which were placed in the Chin landmarks were torn down and were replaced with Buddhist shrines.

Chin Christian missionaries in the southern part, where most of the people profess animism, under the project of "Chins for Christ in One Century (CCOC)," were prohibited.  The Slorc then sent Buddhist monks to replace them.  The Slorc soldiers on seeing the CCOC workers stripped them off their white uniforms. Some women missionaries had to walk to the next village wearing only their under wear as the Burman soldiers confiscated all their other clothing.

Slorc is sending young and single soldiers to the Chin State promissing them one step promotion if they marry Chin women, and double promotion if they convert the women to Buddhism. Though these soldiers do not understand the Chin language, Churches in the Chin Hills are full of soldiers during services.  The soldiers attend the Churches in order to come into contact with the girls.

Slorc's Spiritual Robbery.

The Slorc authorities collected several hundred youngsters by deceiving their poor Christian parents by promising to give higher education to the children. These children were taken to Burma proper where they kept in detention.  These innocent children were forced to convert to Buddhism by making them Buddhist novices without the consent of the parents, a spiritual robbery.

Buddhist Mission Buy Chin Christian Children for Kyats 3,000

The Slorc has been encouraging the Buddhist mission in the Chin State. The Buddhist mission took some 80 Chin Christian children to a small Buddhist monastery in Falam by giving their parents 3,000 for each child.  The children were forced to shave off their heads, to wear yellow robes and to recite Buddhist prayer every day.

The Slorc has commissioned Kyats 10 million to construct a huge building to house 500 children at Lungpi 5 miles away from Falam.  A further danger is for the boys, who will most likely be conscripted to the Burmese army at the age of 14 or 15.

Recently in summer 1997, Slorc asked two young men each from even village in the Chin State to serve as the Slorc army.

Evangelist Pastor Pauno

Pastor Pauno was a free evangelist in the Naga‑Khamti areas. He was very successful in converting the Nagas that it alarmed the Slorc authorities in the area. Thus the Burmese Intelligence Service (MIS) sent its agents and Buddhist monks in order to study how to counter his teaching.   However, in a short period of time, Pastor Pauno converted the MIS agents and the Buddhist monks to Christianity.

The Slorc authorities therefore arrested Pastor Pauno in Khamti and sent to Monywa jail. The notorious Monywa jail has the MIS facilities of torture.

The Buddhist monks from the Buddhist missionary in the Southern Chin State are Military Intelligence

Over the past two years, the Slorc has been increasing its brutal Christian persecutions and human rights abuses in the Chin State by using their military intelligence who were disguising as Buddhist monks. The following information has been brought out to the world.

The monks who live in Matupi and Mindat townships rule the communities.   Anyone who does not abide by the monk's orders are reported to the Slorc army and he/she is punished by the army.  The monks give judgment on all cases.   For those who become Buddhists are freed from any persecution such as forced labor, portering, extortion of money and so on.   Wherever and whenever a monk visits, he is accompanied by the army and they arrange porters to carry the monk's particulars.

The villagers were forced to build a Buddhist monastery and temple.   One pastor gave a sermon with reference to certain passages in the Bible.   While he, was giving the sermon, the monk entered the Church and scolded and shouted at the pastor saying," You can't give a sermon with reference to the above verses of the Bible.   If you continue, you will be imprisoned."   Furthermore, the monks prohibited pastoral visits to families and prayers for them at every village where monks are living.

These monks are not the real monks, they are the Intelligence of Slorc.

They are wandering the Southern Chinland, to entirely abolish Churches of Christians.
