Six people were arrested yesterday during an anti-military rally on Pennsylvania Avenue in front of the White House.

A spokesman for the U.S. Secret Service said the protesters were arrested about 11:45 a.m. and are members of the Atlantic Life Community, which describes itself as a coalition of East Coast Christian organizations. The six were charged with demonstrating without a permit.

The group, according to its members, opposes the use of nuclear and other weapons and believes tax dollars used for the military should be used instead to address the problems of the poor and the homeless.
