MONDAY

Breakfast
Introductory bus tour—See the major monuments and the city’s varied neighborhoods and ethnic communities.
Lafayette Park study visit—See how citizens use the park across from the White House to express their views to the president.
Lunch at Ballston Common Mall Food Court
Walking workshop on Capitol Hill—Walk the halls of the Capitol, the House or Senate office buildings, the Library of Congress, and the Supreme Court.
National Archives study visit—See the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the Declaration of Independence.

Workshops
Large group activity on the Constitution

TUESDAY

Breakfast
Jefferson Memorial and Iwo Jima Monument study visits—Start the day with inspirational stops at these well-known monuments.
Lunch at Pentagon City Mall Food Court
Arlington Cemetery—Visit the gravesites of John and Robert Kennedy, observe the Changing of the Guard ceremonies at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, pause at the Challenger space shuttle memorial, and tour the Custis-Lee Mansion, home of the Robert E. Lee family before the Civil War.
Dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe
Lincoln, Vietnam Veterans, and Korean War Memorials study visits—Imagine you were there to hear Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech. Study the names on the solemn panels of “The Wall.” Visit the capital’s newest monument to American soldiers.

WEDNESDAY

Breakfast
Smithsonian study visits—Explore the National Air and Space Museum and the National Museum of American History.
Final festive luncheon
Depart for home
Sightseeing by metro for late departures (on your own)
