Thomas P.O. Box 27217 Washington, D.C. 20038 September 15, 1992 Marie DeLanoy 5036 Overton Drive New Port Richey, Florida 34652 Dear Mom, Hope this letter finds you feeling well. Would have written sooner, but I was waiting for the public notices about Proposition One, which hasn't materialized. Enclosed is a copy of the blurb printed in City Paper, a local alternative paper that is more witty and entertainment oriented than serious, and my reply. The only other publication of Proposition One's electoral success that we are aware of was two sentences in the Washington Post. That blurb didn't even mention "economic conversion," the most practical aspect of the idea, but just identified Initiative 37 as addressing nuclear disarmament. Considering all the effort that went into qualifying Initiative 37 for the ballot, it's a little disappointing that the idea didn't get more attention in the press. But, on the bright side, at least the public debate is beginning. I think the City Paper notice helps to begin defining the practical situation. Better yet, our success here has demonstrated to other people that the idea does have a realistic potential ... it can be done within the existing framework. I haven't made any more progress with a dentist. Haven't been back in touch with Dr. Lasky, except for a $10.00 bill (apparently separate from the $20.00 late fee that they wanted to charge me) that his office sent, which I will pay out of the money that you last sent. Still have one cavity that needs filling, and the tooth that needs a cap. Hope you enjoy the videotape. It should be self-explanatory. Think of you often. Hope to hear from you soon. Love,
