Official Counter-Inaugural Events

Wednesday. Jan. 18: 5-8 p.m. Counter-Inaugural Banquet (soup kitchen) outside Union Station, where the $1500-a-plate official banquet will be held. All are welcome to dinner. There will be entertainment from "Flowering Tree" (a women's theater group), and "No Neck Monsters Theater," which will perform selections from "D.C. Sanctuary," their recent hit play about the homeless. Singers Luci Murphy, Rudy Arredondo, Lisa Walker and others will aiso perform.

Thursday. Jan. 19: The Coalition plans to leaflet at the following events: Salute to Barbara Bush (Kennedy Center,11a.m.), American Presidential Pageant (Constitution Hall, 2 p.m), Vice Presidential Reception (National Museum of American History, 2 p.m.), Inaugural Gala (Convention Center, 8 p.m.)

7:30pm "No HONEYMOON" Benefit Concert for the Christic Institute;featuring David Crosby and Graham Nash. Warner Theater, 513 13th St., NW. Tickets $25. For more information call 797-8106.

Friday. Jan. 20: 10:00-12:30 Church of the Reformation, 2nd and E. Capitol St. Gather with friends to pick up materials for the day. Leaflets, placards, and banners for the parade route will be available there.

1:30 p.m. Inauaural Parade from the Capitol to the White House (along Pennsylvania Avenue).

1:00-4:00 p.m. Materials can also be picked up and returned at New York Ave. Presbyterian Church, 13th and N.Y. Ave. NW. We ask for people to reconvene there around 3:00 to join in food and telling of the days activities.

9 p.m.-1 a.m. Counter-Inaragurai Ball (location to be announced, costumes optional), following leafletting at the official Inaugural Balls (they will be in 9 locations, costing $175 per person, except the "Young American Ball" at the D.C. National Guard Armory, which is only $30). Open mike from 9-10 p.m., then tapes to dance the night away! $5.00 (admission includes 1 free drink).

Saturday. Jan. 21: 1:00 p.m. Counter-Inaugural Forum--Toward a People's Agenda. All Souls Church, 15th & Harvard Sts., NW. (admission free) panel discussion with moderator Angela Sanbrano, Executive Director, CISPES; Daniel Sheehan, General Counsel, Christic Institute; Josephine Butler, Chair, DC Statehood Party; former CIA analyst David MacMichael; Sherry ODell, VicePresident, National Organization for Women; Sue Hyde, National Gay and Lesbian Task Force. Join us afterwards for an early dinner. Literature tables will aiso be set up.

Leafletting will also occur at these events: "White House Amenican Welcome" (open to the public, 11 a.m.), "George to George--200 Years, A Children's Inaugural Festival" (Constitution Hall, 2 p.m.), "An American Tribute to Democracy" (Constitution Hall, 8 p.m.) and "Celebration for Young Americans" (ConvenCion Center, 8 p.m.)

Interfaith Circle outside the National Cathedral (site of the "official" worship service).
