A federal judge denied an attempt by activists for homeless people
yesterday to have a sculpture depicting a homeless family included in the
annual Christmas Pageant of Peace on the Ellipse.
U.S. District Judge Louis F. Oberdorfer rejected the motion for a
preliminary injunction that was sought by the Community for Creative
Non-Violence, a homeless rights organization.
It was the second time that CCNV tried to have the sculpture, titled "And
Still There is No Room at the Inn" exhibited as part of the pageant.
Oberdorfer rejected a similar bid in 1985.
Mitch Snyder, a CCNV leader, said the judge's decision "is not a
reasonable, rational ruling."
