William Thomas 1440 N Street N.W. Washington, D.C. 20005 October, 31, 1988 Dear Mom: Received your letter of the 24th a couple of days ago. Thanks for the stamps. They came in handy. Glad to hear that your medical prognosis is "exceptionally good." Hope it only gets better. Sorry for overlooking your request about my legal name and address. As far as I'm concerned my legal name is William Thomas, actually I think Thomas is sufficient. To the best of my knowledge that name is "legal." They use it in court all the time, they use it in the news media, and everybody knows me by that name. I've heard, but haven't actually researched it myself, that if a person uses a name for two years that name becomes their "legal" name. I've used Thomas for over nine years now. As for the address, either 1440 N Street, N.W., Apt. 410, (20005) or P.O. Box 27217 (20038) should do. It was very nice to see Cheryl. Unfortunately she couldn't stay very long. Hope to see her again. Is Bruce feeling better? Maybe he can contact me. I'd also like Brad's address. What can you expect from an attorney? Sunrise's legal battle has to do with none other than "camping." It's crazy, but his mom is becoming very interested in the whole mess, and we are hoping something good will come out of it all. Our fund for the video camera never went too well. We had to spend $80 for some printing that we thought was important, so only $120 remains in the fund. However, it looks quite sure that a woman is actually going to buy exactly the camera that Ellen wanted, and give it to us. The two of them went shopping around for the best price a couple of days ago, and tonight they spent a couple of hours talking about it. As I understand it all she wants in return is for Ellen to do a documentary about a project the woman is involved in feeding homeless people, something that Ellen encouraged the woman to start. We shall see. Ellen's mother, daughter, son-in-law, and a couple of cousins stopped by a couple of weeks ago. We went to dinner, and had a nice talk. That made Ellen happy. Honestly, I can't think of a single thing we could use from Hong Kong, or Seoul. But thanks for the thought. I'm enclosing the latest filing in our civil case against the government. I suppose it's my masterpiece. Hope you find it interesting. Have a safe trip. Perhaps you'll be able to stop by on your way home. Love, your son, Thomas (it feels awkward to identify myself otherwise)
