William Thomas 1440 N Street N.W. Washington, D.C. 20005 October, 31, 1988 Dear D.O. and Apple: Been meaning to answer your letter for quite awhile. Things are incredibly hectic. Trying to focus on one thing (sitting continuously in front of the White House) entails so many other things that it really boggles my mind. At lot of it has to do with the law. In the process I've compiled as good a record as any lawyer in the field of demonstration regulations. Not too bad for a jerk with an eighth grade education. It seems ironic that, as a person with an adament dislike of bureaucracy, who has gone to extremes in renouncing material possessions, my possessions amount to ten four drawer filing cabinets, and a dozen boxes of paper. The four year old civil suit against the government alone, piled page upon page, is taller than I am. For your amusement (hopefully) I'm enclosing the latest pleading in that case. It seems to me that, in the near future, this case might just make or break the Constitution. Maybe I'm just crazy, or maybe -- if the Appeals Court condones, as the District Court has done, the government's shenanigans --even the illusion of democracy is dead, and the police state will be totally out of the closet. Also enclosed are a couple of newspaper articles. It really would be nice to see you guys. A lot of people from your neighborhood come down here for short periods. Maybe you'll be able to make it. I sure hope so. In any event maybe you'll be able to write. Love, your friend, Thomas
