William Thomas 1440 N Street N.W. Washington, D.C. 20005 October 31, 1988 Dear Mr. Kollander: It's been so long I can't remember when I last wrote. I certainly hope you and yours are well. How's Smokey? Many things have happened since last I remember writting. Can't remember if I made it clear to you, but since May, 1984 I've been remarried. Having learned from my mistakes this time I married a woman who would follow me across a desert. When I met her she had a well-paying job in the establishment, which she quit to come live on the streets with me. She's the best partner I've ever had. Yes, I've still been having a lot of problems with our beloved, freedom loving government. They keep trying to throw me in jail. Nothing personal, of course, only because I'm ugly, and they need to protect the American public from ugliness. Still trying to master the judicial system. Having some success, maybe more than anyone who has never graduated from college, but also some failures. Live and learn. A friend of mine, Dr. Jim Evens, who is living in Tijeras, stopped by to see me a couple of weeks ago. I told him about you, and he said he'd stop by to see you. Wonder whether he has. Came across a letter from you dated 8/29/87. Can't recall whether I replied. A P.S. from Pete says he'd be glad to join me on the sidewalk "if it pays enuf." If I did answer I probably said that I'm doing it for love of humanity. Actually it is rather costly to me to stay here. I'm enclosing a couple of things which you may find of some interest. Hope you'll write back soon. Best wishes to Marc, Pete, and all.
