COPENHAGEN
-- COPENHAGEN -- The U.S. Navy destroyer Conyngham docked in a Danish port
after police towed away a Greenpeace ship that had blocked the harbor entrance
in an antinuclear protest.
Police arrested 14 members of the environmental organization after some
protesters tried to climb the cables of the Conyngham and four others jumped
into the water to stop the warship from docking in Aalborg. The activists were
demanding guarantees from the destroyer's captain that the warship did not
carry nuclear arms.
