Shouting "Stop the War" and "Bye Bye Khomeini," about 80 demonstrators
gathered yesterday afternoon in Lafayette Park to protest the war between Iran
and Iraq and to ask the United Nations to intervene.
The protesters, opponents of the Ayatollah Khomeini's Islamic regime in
Iran, carried placards urging the two nations to stop bombings in heavily
populated areas. U.S. Park Police said no one was arrested during the two-hour
demonstration.
