Mitch Snyder and others concerned about the unfortunate people who have no
place to go have missed the point of what these people need. These people need
to be trained to become self-supporting. Look at all of the help-wanted ads in
The Post. Some of the jobs would require minimum training or in some cases
retraining of a former job or profession.
Mitch Snyder could start with a nucleus of trainees. Then that group could
help others who need training. After success with one job, the individual
could advance to other jobs. The success would improve the individual's
self-esteem and dignity.
Please, let us be proud of the nation's capital. Do not allow the Metro
stations to become a disgrace.
