Dear Mrs Birkby

I am sorry that you have not received an earlier reply to your letter of 3 May requesting copies of the release papers of William Thomas Hallenbeck.

I am afraid that we are unable to comply with your request as it is not the policy of this Department to make available copies of prison records or documents held in the lmmigration Department. However, I can confirm that Mr Hallenbeck was the subject of a Deportation Order signed by the Secretary of State on 14 December 1979, a copy of which would have been given to him. Mr Hallenbeck was taken from Pentonville prison on 2 October 1980 and was returned to the United States.
