WHAT KIND of THIEF Are YOU?
A thief is one who takes for his own that which is not his.
In the present society of this world thieves fall into two
categories: illegal and legal.
The illegal thief is one who is honest enough to be
straightforward about his thievery. The tools of his trade are
knives, guns, clubs, extortion, and a certain perverse courage.
The legal thief is one who is dishonest enough to put the
knives, guns, and clubs in the hands of his "legal" guardians, and
to pretend that he gives something in return for what he takes.
The tools of his trade are banks, stock exchanges, real estate law,
weapons contracts, and a certain perverse cowardice.
Jesus of Nazareth, or so tradition would have us believe (Luke
23:39-43), was crucified between one of each of these kinds of
thieves. The illegal thief, honest enough to admit his
wrong-doings, repented, and was saved. The legal thief, dishonest
and unrepentant to the end, mocked Jesus, and died.
