November 20, 1992 NOTICE TO DEMONSTRATORS
Pursuant to the Notice to the Public, signed by the Associate Regional Director, White House Liaison, various sections of Lafayette Park will be closed tothe public from November 23, 1992 to January 31, 1993. The closures are necessary for the constructing and dismantling of various components for the 1993 Presidential Inauguration to be held on January 20, 1993.
Because the activities associated with the closures do not reasonably permit multiple occupancy, pursuant to 36 C.F.R. § 7.96(G)(4)(iii)(A)(D), demonstration activities are not permitted on various sections of Lafayette Park that are closed to the public. And demonstrators should remove themselves and any personal property from the closed sections.
Pursuant to 36 C.F.R. § 7.96(g)(4)(iii)(A), the National Park Service proposes an alternative site for demonstration activity. Specifically, those persons wishing to conduct demonstration activity may do so in the remaining sections of Lafayette Park, to the extent such sections are not closed, or in the Northease quadrant of the Park. The northeast quadrant of Lafayette Park will remain open throughout the Presidential Inauguration construction period.
