Dear Mr. Thomas:

On behalf of the National Park Service, you are cordially invited to a reception to be held December 2, 1998, at the White House Visitor Center, 1450 Pennsylvania Avenue South, N. W., from 5 to 7 p.m., to mark the December 2 release of the Draft Comprehensive Design Plan for the White House for public review and comment. The reception is being provided courtesy of the White House Historical Association

As a neighbor to the White House and President's Park, we hope you will join us for this early look at the elements of the Comprehensive Design Plan. The draft plan has been developed with the involvement of many agencies, organizations and individuals over the last 6 years. It will improve the services, efficiency, educational opportunities and preservation of the White House and President's Park. The proposed plan addresses support services for the home and office of the President, visitor use and services, historic preservation, transportation, site character, official functions and special events over the next 20 years.

Please call Ms. Alicia Overby at (202) 219-1009 by November 24 to let her know if you will be able to attend. We hope you will be able to join us.

Sincerely,

JAMES I. MCDANIEL
Director
White House Liaison
