We have just received a fax and several phone calls from Hokkaido, Japan. A group of Japanese lawyers, The Second Delegation of Japanese Lawyers for the Reduction and Withdrawal of U.S. Military Bases in Okinawa, will be here on Tuesday through Thursday, June 24-26, 1997 to present a petition with 16,000 signatures to the State Department (3 p.m. Tuesday). The group consists of 21 persons and the head is the president of JAPAN LAWYERS INTERNATIONAL SOLIDARITY ASSOCIATION.
They have asked the Hiroshima-Nagasaki Committee, along with Proposition One, to host their visit, and specifically asked to meet with Congressman Norton They have much respect for her because of H.R. 827. This is a distinguished group, and they are anxious to meet with thoses who are supportive of the anti-nuclear movement.
