Signing the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty
A Step Towards Sanity

It is with great joy and relief that we in Psychologists for Social Responsibility greet the signing of the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty. The prospect, the hope, that we may never again witness an explosion of nuclear weapons, is a powerful banner leading the people of the world to call upon their governments to carry through their commitment and put this treaty into force wthout delay.

On the strength of this commitment we witness today, we implore the nations of the world who continue to hold nuclear weapons stockpiles to live up to their treaty obligations and dismantle those stockpiles with all due speed.

Swift action to reduce the number of nuclear weapons in the world will only add to our global security and lend a powerful hand to those who are intent upon building cultures of peace to be enjoyed by our children and our children's children.

Sincerely,

Bianca Cody Murphy, Ed.D.
President
