A GLOBAL NETWORK TO ABOLISH NUCLEAR WEAPONS

INVITATION TO A NETWORK MEETING
AND OTHER EVENTS IN EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND.

The Abolition 2000 Network was established at an international meeting held in the Hague on 5 Nov 1995. ALL organisations who have signed the NGO Abolition Statement (around 280 organisations) are invited to send representatives to the next meeting of the Network, This will take place within the context of the Edinburgh Peace Festival, an annual programme of political and cultural activities spread over two weeks in the beginning of March.

FRIDAY MARCH 1

Morning (11.00) Press Conference

Evening: Civic Reception with Lord Provost and City Council (New Parliament House)

SATURDAY MARCH 2

10.30 - 5.00 One-day conference: Managing Nuclear Disarmament, organised by World Court Project-UK and Scottish Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament. (Assembly Hall). Speakers include Prof Joseph Rotblat (Nobel Peace Laureate 1995), Admiral Eugene Carroll, Robert Groon, Prof Donald Mackenzie, Patricia Lowie, Maj Britt Theorin MEP, Alyn Ware, Scilla Elworthy, Janet Bloomfieid, Bruce Kent.

SUNDAY MARCH 3

10:00- 4:00 Abolition 2000 Network meeting, (Queen's Hall, South Clerk St)

2.00 - 4.00 Open session for general public

7:30 - 9.30 Classical music concert

MONDAY MARCH 4

10.00 - 5.00 Abolition 2000 network meeting continued. (South Side Community Centre)
