Rig Carrying Radioactive Motor Breaks

* A trailer carrying a motor contaminated by nuclear radiation collapsed yesterday, dumping the motor onto Rte. 522 in Louisa County, but the container in which the motor was enclosed did not break, Virginia State Police said.

There was no apparent loss of radiation, but a hazardous materials team was sent to the site, police said. The tractor-trailer had left the North Anna nuclear plant and was en route to Atlanta when it apparently split, possibly because of metal fatigue, police said. - No injuries were reported.
